I would gladly start playing Barotrauma in Steam Edition again, if all of the original players could come back and form the old, goofy, legacy-like Barotrauma I have come to know over my time playing it. I have nothing against serious players, but I feel as if the less-serious players have been left out to slowly fade away. I am neither of those, I just like jumping onto a game to play it either semi-seriously, or not seriously at all, and chaotic even. It makes me sad that a game I once enjoyed very much in legacy now has lost nearly all of my personal interest, and the game is now majority-played by serious, tryhard players and serious roleplayers. I have asked many people now to whether they played the original legacy edition, and I get a very small minority of people saying 'yes.' It's obvious to why this is happening, as many original players have either given up on Barotrauma, or never even bothered with it after seeing its difference from legacy to begin with (or its price), which is very unfortunate. In other words, it separated players not only monetarily, but through original playstyle too. Going from a free-to-play, simplistic game to a costly and more-seriously-paced game is a big jump, and it dumbed down Barotrauma's original playerbase, considering they were used to legacy's free, goofy and simple playstyle (which includes me, to an extent as I liked legacy's old goofy and simple playstyle). I don't know what exactly caused this game to lose its popularity this rapidly after Steam release, but my guess is in the expensive pricing of the game, and the large difference in playstyle from legacy to the Steam release. I've been playing since legacy way back now, and all of the memories I have of the old legacy version are shrouded with nostalgia already.
